How often should I have a check up at the dentist?
At Evans Dental we like to prevent dental problems by recommending regular 6 monthly dental visits. This enables us to detect early signs of disease which can then be treated before they become serious.

Various factors indicate the health of your teeth and gums. Red, swollen or bleeding gums are signs of gum disease. Decay is more likely to set in if your teeth are chipped or cracked, so these imperfections should be treated quickly.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a titanium screw that is implemented into the jaw which then acts as the support mechanism for a false tooth. Because the implant is secured to your natural bone structure and the false tooth is designed to match your surrounding teeth, your repaired smile will look highly authentic. It is important to see your dentist if you have missing teeth as this can lead to serious dental concerns such as bone loss and facial deformity.
-
How will sedation help my fear of the dentist?
Here at Evans Dental we understand some people have a debilitating fear of the dentist. This becomes a more serious concern when people avoid the dentist because minor problems that could have been managed with simple treatments may possibly become severe. We want to make everyone feel comfortable at Evans Dental so you visit us for regular checkups enabling us to give you a healthy smile. To help those patients suffering from anxiety, we can use intravenous (IV) sedation. This is a form of sedation dentistry where medication is delivered to the patient through a vein by an anaesthetist. Small amounts of medication are administered until the preferred state of drowsiness is reached. This is not the same as a general anaesthetic, key differences being you are conscious and can breathe independently.
-
What are crowns?
Crowns, otherwise known as ‘caps’, are designed to restore the structure and function of a single tooth or multiple teeth when there is not much left of a tooth. Some instances where crowns may be used are for teeth that have become damaged, crooked, decayed or lost. Crowns are durable sleeves that cover the entire surface of the affected tooth, providing more support and protection. In addition to repairing the function of the tooth, they look natural, blending in with your other teeth, aesthetically enhancing your overall smile.
-
In what instance would a dental bridge be needed?
A dental bridge may be recommended is you are missing one or more teeth. If gaps from missing teeth aren’t filled, health concerns could arise including jaw pain and headaches. A dental bridge will appear completely natural and match the colour of your natural teeth.
